Cynthia Shaffer Peterson, of Saint Charles, MO died on May 09, 2020, at the age of 63.
She was born May 27, 1956, in Wurtzburg, Germany to the late Wayne and Rowena
Shaffer.

Mrs. Janet Cheryl Oleksy, age 49, of Allen, Texas passed away December 21,
2005, at her home. She was born April 9, 1956, in Dallas, Texas to Jean R. and
Laura Lee (Love) Sperry. On June 13, 1981, she married Stephen Anthony
Oleksy II in Kansas City. Mrs. Oleksy was a loving mother who was devoted to
her family. She was a member of St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church of New
Braunfels, Texas. She is survived by her daughters, Samantha Oleksy, Laura
Elizabeth Oleksy, Amanda Lea Oleksy and Sara Beth Oleksy all of Allen; parents,
Jean and Laura Sperry of Plano, Texas; sisters, Carol Komsthoeft and husband,
Peter of Olathe, Kansas, Jeanine Hammond and husband, Steve of Orlando,
Florida and Kathy Permenter and husband, Tim of Dallas; brother, Andy Sperry
of Dallas; and a number of nieces and nephews. Her husband, Stephen Oleksy
preceded her in death.

Pamela L. O’Brien, 65, Overland Park, KS, passed away on October 21st, 2021. Visitation will
be from 9:30-11 AM with a Funeral Service following at 11 AM Thursday, October 28th, 2021,
at Porter Funeral Home, 8535 Monrovia Street, Lenexa, KS 66215.
Pamela was born on April 22nd, 1956 in Kansas City, MO, the daughter of Frank and Lillen
Steinmetz, and was a lifelong Johnson County resident. She graduated from Shawnee Mission
South High School in 1974, where she dated her husband of nearly 49 years, Dan. Pam was
very proud of her career as an emergency medical technician at KU Medical Center (1975-
1978) and Shawnee Mission Medical Center (1978-1985), but her biggest pride and joy was
being a homemaker and raising her 6 children.
Pamela was a wonderful and supportive mother and wife, always available to listen and
provide advice, often cycling through hours-long phone calls with her children. She had a
wonderful sense of humor, finding a joke or pun for every situation. She also was a talented
artist, often sketching landscapes of places she dreamed of visiting, as well as contributing to
various school projects. Pamela also had a fierce love of dachshunds, owning several
throughout her years as well as having a wide array of dachshund decorations throughout her
home. She especially enjoyed spending time with her husband going on drives, riding
motorcycles, kayaking, and fishing.
She was preceded in death by her parents and 2 brothers, Jeff Steinmetz and Tim Steinmetz.
Pamela is survived by her husband of nearly 49 years, Daniel J. O’Brien, her 6 children
Schaun O’Brien, Scott O’Brien, Wendy Tietz, Josh O’Brien, Kelsie Lauck, and Cody O’Brien.
She was also the grandmother of 12 grandchildren, Bridget O’Brien, Rebecca O’Brien,
Delainey O’Brien, Kynzie O’Brien, Max O’Brien, Dennis O’Brien, Daniel O’Brien, Molly O’Brien,
Jack O’Brien, Ronen O’Brien, Declan O’Brien, and Sullivan O’Brien. She also is survived by
brothers Dean and Mark Steinmetz.

Miss Barbara L. Sturm, 21, of 2102, Leawood, Condolea Circle, died of cystic fibrosis Saturday at Menorah Medical Center. She was born in Pittsburgh and had lived in this area four years. Miss Sturm was a senior at the University of Kansas, Lawrence, majoring in human development and family life. She graduated from Shawnee Mission South High School in 1974. She leaves her parents, Mr. and Sturm of the home, and her maternal grandmother, Mrs. A. G. Curry, Pittsburgh. Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Mount Moriah chapel; burial in Moriah Cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the chapel. The family suggests contributions to the Heart of America Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

Dr. David L. Tomlinson, 52, of Overland Park, KS passed away on July 24, 2009,
at Kansas City Hospice House. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m.,
Monday, July 27, 2009, at Church of St. Ann, 7231 Mission Road, Prairie Village,

was born October 23, 1956, in Decatur, Illinois. He graduated from Kansas
University in 1978, graduated from KU Medical Center in 1982, did his residency
at KU Medical Center and graduated in 1985, graduated with a fellowship in
cardiovascular anesthesiology at Texas Heart Institute in 1986, practiced
anesthesia at KU Med Center from 1987-90, practiced anesthesia at Research
Medical Center from 1990-95. He was preceded in death by his father, Omer V.
Tomlinson. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Diane L. Tomlinson; son,
Joseph Paul Tomlinson of St. Louis MO; daughter, Anne Marie Tomlinson of
Dallas, TX; mother, Marian Tomlinson of Phoenix, AZ; brother, Daniel Tomlinson
of Medford.
Douglas LeRoy Vokins, 43, formerly of Overland Park, KS, Died September 12, 2000.
Doug was born in Kansas City, MO, and lived in Overland Park most of his life until
moving to Scottsdale, AZ, in 1997. He graduated from Shawnee Mission South, and
Avila College with a degree in Computer Sciences. Doug was a Senior Integrated
Technologist Specialist with IBM in Arizona. Prior employment was with the United
Missouri Bank in Kansas City, MO, as a Systems Programmer, and CDI in Arizona as s
Senior Systems Programmer. He is survived by his wife, Rose Dorinda “Dorie” Rigo; his
son, Tai of Overland Park, KS; his parents, Roy and Joan Vokins of rural Paola, KS;
brothers, Daniel and his wife, Nancy of Siloam Springs, AR; his paternal grandmother,
Alice O’Neil of Paola, KS; Dorie’s son, Tomas; her mother, Bonnie; two nieces; and one

He joined the Motorcycle Club S.J.L.E.M.C. of Harlingen, TX and loved his chopper "Thunder from Down Under." He was preceded in death by his mother Jean and his grandparents. Bill is survived by his wife Angela M. Vrentas; son Jeremy Vrentas and his wife Marky; father Bill G. Vrentas, Sr; brother Gregory L.
